We are in a nature emergency that demands partnership, triage, and active solutions to save the native plants and habitats that life depends on. California, a global biodiversity hotspot, sits in the balance of this emergency with both the greatest plant diversity and risk of extinction in the nation.
So we asked ourselves: What would it take to protect the plants and places that are essential to biodiversity, human communities, and climate resilience? The CNPS Saving What Matters Most campaign is our answer, and we urge you to join us! Together, our collective power is already making a difference.
Across the state, we are filling critical information gaps, delivering accessible data, and supporting legal and regulatory frameworks with science.
With the right data, we can identify conservation targets and stewardship priorities where biodiversity and climate resilience benefits are greatest.
CNPS’s new mapping model brings together essential data to inform land-use decisions, research priorities, and durable protection.
Grounded in science-based advocacy priorities, we are deepening our partnerships statewide and building a trained Advocacy Corps for key moments of decision-making.
Long-time members and emerging activists are signing up for CNPS’s rapidly growing program that empowers advocates with training and advocacy opportunities year-round.
Our voices ring louder together. From in-person events to social media, CNPS is working with a wide range of partners to deliver messages that drive action.
More than 90% of California’s plant diversity exists on public lands, and they are under attack.
California’s goal to protect 30% of lands and coastal waters is a critical step for biodiversity and climate.
