Virtual Rally for California’s Pollinator Protection Act
May 4 @ 9:00 am - 9:30 am
WHAT: Environment California, the Natural Resource Defense Council, and the California Native Plant Society will hold a virtual rally to support California’s bill to protect pollinators from a dangerous class of pesticides. Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan’s AB 2146 would help save declining bee, butterfly, and other insect populations by banning non-agricultural use of neonicotinoid pesticides in places like public parks, golf courses, and home gardens. Today, unchecked use of these pesticides is escalating pollinator deaths and contaminating urban waterways. State water testing has detected neonics in the vast majority of samples statewide, including 92% of samples in urban areas of Southern California.
Asm. Bauer-Kahan will kick off the event, followed by a line-up of experts to speak to the impacts of neonicotinoid pesticides on California bee and Monarch butterfly populations, as well as public health.
