San Bruno Mountain, Saddle and Bog Trails
August 20 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Sign this waiver in advance to attend.
These two trails are the most popular trails in the park and are easy on the legs. They are surprisingly rich in plant species, both native and non-native, and offer views from the Marin Headlands to San Jose on clear days. This time of year the saddle features the late summer and fall yellows of three golden rods and gumplant, snowy shades of pearly everlasting and my favorite, pink everlasting. My field trips are not limited to plants because there is so much else to see. If you’re a birder bring your binoculars and look for hawks, kites and kestrels or maybe a phoebe. Bring a light lunch or a snack and we can stop at the day camp or debrief at the picnic grounds after our walk. It’s always wise to bring layers because it’s Fogust and weather can be cold and foggy to sunny and warm or somewhere in between. There is a $6 entry fee payable at the ranger kiosk. Meet in the main parking lot. This field trip is limited to 20 people. Contact Doug at firstname.lastname@example.org to sign up for this trip and meeting instructions.
