Summary of Talk:
Until recently production of California native plants has been the purview of small specialty nurseries leading to a limited supply for interested gardeners. To make native plants more available it is important to propagate and grow them in nurseries despite a lack of dependable information on what they require. Come and hear about the California native plants we grow at UCDavis Arboretum and the knowledge and special needs of nursery production of California native plants.
Come and hear the secrets of California native plant propagation and container culture and expand your skills. Be sure and bring questions and discuss great CA native plants for the Garden.
Taylor is an alumnus of UC Davis Horticulture program and has spent many years as a manager, grower and sales agent of California Native plants. He is known throughout the native plant community from his years at Cornflower Farms, a local native plant restoration nursery in Elk Grove.
In 2014 Taylor returned to his “roots” at UC to become manager of the UCD Arboretum’s new Teaching Nursery where he supervises and manages the production of many species of California natives and other plants both for the Gardens collections and for fundraising sales to the public.
