Mojave Mosses
June 19 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Presented by Paul Wilson, Professor of Ecology and Evolution at Cal State Northridge
This presentation will be aimed at a general audience, introducing the lives of the mosses. Paul will also provide a bit of data on how various species prefer growing on carbonate versus silicious rocks—more prefer the former than the latter in his study on the mountains at the far northwestern edge of the Mojave Desert.
Paul Wilson has been a professor of ecology and evolution at Cal State Northridge for 25 years. He is studying the ecology of mosses and liverworts in various places around Southern California and is a past president of CNPS’s Bryophyte Chapter. He has also studied floral evolution, rarity in angiosperms, and vegetation ecology.
