Fall Colors Hike – Tahoe and Sierra Valley Chapter

October 14 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Join Naturalist John Roos as we explore Cathedral Meadow, the shore of Fallen Leaf Lake and Taylor Creek. Aspens, willows and many shrubs are peaking with fall colors. We should see lingering blooms of asters, daisies, other flowers, and signs of wildlife. Aspens hold clues to passersby, such as humans with a carving knife and bears with sharp claws as they climbed the trees. We might even see Kokanee salmon if they’ve made it up the creek that far, or, if not, nearer the highway on the way back.

The trail is relatively level, with a small section of off-trail navigation. Long pants preferred for the tall grassy sections.

Location: Cathedral Meadow Trailhead off HWY 89 North just past Taylor Creek Bridge. Park at the Washoe Tribal Cultural Center Sno Park.
