Earth Week Beautification Event

April 17 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

QUICK OVERVIEW
Help beautify our parks and create habitats for wildlife found in the Los Angeles area.

MISSION
Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area is an island of biodiversity surrounded by our beautiful city. It is a 400-acre park with many hiking trails and scenic views. We try our best to create more habitats for our wildlife birds, insects, mammals, and reptiles. For more habitat and resources to be available, we remove invasive plant species and replace them with native plants that our wildlife needs for survival.

IMPACT
The best work is done with many hands all at once. Our community members are the ones that have made many of our projects possible. We know this kind of work can be difficult, but it is very important and rewarding. We create homes for animals and educate the public on the importance of conservation, wildfire prevention, and the connection between nature and people.

VOLUNTEER ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
We will be removing invasive plant species using gardening gloves, and hand picks provided. We will also be planting and creating basins. Lastly, we will water our plants and clean up!

REQUIREMENTS
All participants must be 18 years or over, and there are two waivers that must be completed to participate in the event.

  • We require a county COVID form with proof of vaccination, so please bring a photo of your vaccination card or have it saved on your phone.
  • We will also need a liability waiver signed.

ACCESSIBILITY
The event is accessible to all volunteers. Volunteers with special considerations will be accommodated–just let us know what you need beforehand! We also speak Spanish.
