Conglomerate Mesa BioBlitz, Inyo County
May 10, 2019 - May 13, 2019
Where: Conglomerate Mesa, Inyo County
When: Saturday-Sunday May 11-12
Join CNPS, Friend of the Inyo, and Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden document the flora and fauna of Conglomerate Mesa in order to help conserve this amazing place. Meet us for naturalizing in small groups May 11-12, or explore on your own Friday May 10th through Monday May 13th. You’re welcome to join for day trips on Saturday or Sunday, or camp out with us for the weekend. We’ll search for rare plants, birds, reptiles, insects, and more and record our findings in iNaturalist. Habitats include stands of Joshua trees, pinyon-juniper, and desert hillsides.
How to Participate:
Create an account on iNaturalist to document your observations and join the Conglomerate Mesa BioBlitz project. Please download the app on your phone before the trip or bring a notebook, camera, and GPS unit to record observations to upload at home on a desktop computer.
We’ll meet at the mesa at 9am on Saturday, May 11th and Sunday, May 12th. Our camping/meeting location on the mesa requires high-clearance 4WD vehicles, but we can arrange for shuttles to pick up and drop off participants from the highway if needed. Please contact Bryan Hatchell at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange for shuttles or carpools. Be prepared for several miles of hiking off-trail and exposure to sun, heat, and wind! There are no bathrooms, potable water, or other services at the mesa, so bring all the food, water, and supplies you’ll need to camp or be out for a full day of exploring.
RSVP is required! Click here to sign up. Weather depending.
