Calling for Climate: Earth Week Phonathon

April 19 @ 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm

Join us for this virtual climate action this Earth Week! We’ll be running a phonathon to help Angelenos be prepared for natural disasters and learn about ways to take climate action from home!

LA Works has partnered with LISTOS California to join their efforts in reaching millions of Californians who otherwise wouldn’t have access to lifesaving emergency preparedness information. Providing tools to help vulnerable Californians not only survive but also thrive post-disaster, is what makes Listos California so vital. LA Works has also partnered with LADWP to help empower Los Angeles residents to take climate action from home by conserving water and power while lowering their bills.

Phone banking is an effective way to quickly connect with community members and mobilize them to take climate action. By sharing important information through direct calls, volunteers will encourage people to save water and energy in order to lower their carbon footprint and contribute to making California sustainable. With recent floods and wildfire season coming up, it’s crucial to stay prepared for emergencies and volunteers will be sharing resources to help our community members stay safe.

  • Learn about Disaster Preparedness and LADWP resources in a brief orientation.
  • Complete cold calls to individuals in need.
  • Communicate the importance of disaster preparedness/response as well as LADWP free programs and rebates.
  • Record the data.

  • Access to Zoom and a phone.
  • Comfortable talking about LA Works, disaster preparedness, and saving energy/water.
  • Sensitivity towards the cultural and socio-economic barriers associated with preparing for disaster.

By registering for this opportunity, you are agreeing to stay connected with future Climate Action events through California Volunteers and the Climate Action Corps. If you do not consent, please email to opt-out.
