Arthur B. Ripley Desert Woodland State Park Hike
April 9 @ 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

At the Desert Woodland State Park, Lena Coleman (Professor of Biology, Antelope Valley College) will lead a walk along the Nature trail and the Rare juniper trail, both easy flat walks totaling about 2 miles. We will discuss the characteristics of the Joshua Tree Woodland community and highlight several species including the California Juniper and the Joshua Tree, including its coevolutionary relationships with its Yucca moth pollinator. Flowers permitting we may explore other nearby areas a bit lower or higher in elevation. Bring sun gear, water, and a lunch. We expect to disband about 1:30.
