American River Hike with José González
December 8 @ 9:00 am
José González, founder of Latino Outdoors and a long-time professional educator, will lead a 2-hour hike this Saturday. The hike will begin at Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail off of Estates Drive. All ages are welcome, however some parts of the trail are not stroller-friendly. The hike will include several stops to talk about and celebrate the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and the importance of standing with the Gwich’in people.
Meet at the entry point to the American River Jedediah Smith Memorial Trail at the end of Estates Drive off of American River Drive. To get there, take US 50 East, Watt Exit, and turn left on Watt, over the bridge and then an immediate right on American River Drive. Continue until you reach Estates Drive and turn right to find the entry point. Street parking.
Dress is in layers, pack snacks and water. The hike will leave by 9:15am.
CNPS’s Outreach Coordinator Elizabeth will be in attendance, email her at firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
