Alamo Mountain Rare Plant Treasure Hunt
August 1, 2019 - August 5, 2019
Where: Alamo Mountain, Los Padres National Forest, Ventura County
When: August 1-5th (Thursday-Mon) Join for one day or the whole trip!
Trip Leader: David Magney
Help CNPS conduct a botanical survey and look for rare plants in the upper reaches of the Santa Clara River watershed on Alamo Mountain and the surrounding areas. There will be opportunities to learn Rare Plant Treasure Hunt protocols. Bring water, sturdy shoes, sun protection and be prepared to potentially hike off-trail or on unstable ground.
Contact David Magney at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange for meeting times/locations. David may be out of reception for emails after the night of July 31.
There is first-come first-served camping available at Twin Pines Campground or Dutchman Campground in Los Padres National Forest. These are primitive camping areas so you will need to bring all of your own water and camping supplies. An Adventure Pass, or Senior America the Beautiful Pass is required for parking anywhere in this area. You will also need a California Campfire Permit to operate a camp stove. They can be purchased at the Chuchupate Ranger Station.
