Working at CNPS
Coming together to ensure California’s native plants and landscapes thrive for generations to come.
CNPS protects California’s native plants and natural habitats through science, education, stewardship, gardening, and advocacy—work that matters more than ever as biodiversity loss and climate change accelerate. Our staff contribute to conservation outcomes spanning public lands, rare species protection, and the ecosystems where people live, working alongside a statewide network of chapters, volunteers, researchers, and partners to translate science into action.
Collaboration, curiosity, and respect guide how we work. CNPS is a mission-driven organization that relies on strong relationships across staff, volunteers, and partners, and we trust people to manage their own work and contribute ideas at a sustainable pace. Our values—Interdependence, Stewardship, Partnership, and Scientific Principles—are reinforced through our Code of Conduct; learn more on our Mission, Vision & Values page.
Rooted across California, our team is connected through a shared mission. Our state office is in Sacramento, and most positions are hybrid roles for candidates within commuting distance—though some, particularly in our plant science programs, are based elsewhere in the state to support fieldwork and regional expertise.
