Did some great mountain biking/bike pushing in the area around Long Lake, off Gold Lake Rd, off Hwy 49 north of Downieville. Saw lots of lilies, penstemon, columbine, and many wildflowers I will need to sit down with a field guide to identify. Right now is a great time to view alpine flowers. On the west side of Long Lake I rode through low bushes and swarms of blue dragonflies. Weather was wonderful! What a great way to spend the 4th of July. Just a few small drifts of snow left on the Summit trail above Mud Lake.
