Default Buena Vista Native Plant Club founded March 03

We have just formed a new native plant club in North Coastal San Diego County. We meet on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 2pm at the Buena Vista Audubon Nature Center. We focus on horticulture and encourage membership in CNPS for more in depth information. Here are the next 2 meeting notices and a recap of the April meeting. May meeting notice: There are 7 California Native Plant Gardens in the Seaside Neighborhood! The Buena Vista Native Plant Club will meet at 2pm Sunday May 18th at St Mary School, 515 Wisconsin Av, Oceanside near the 101 Cafe. Join our driving/walking tour of front yard gardens. Maps and plant lists will be provided. For more information contact the Buena Vista Audubon Center at 760-439-2473. Free. Directions: St. Mary`s school is right near the 101 Cafe on South Coast Hwy in Oceanside. From I-5, go west on Oceanside Blvd to Coast Hwy. Turn right north and go to the next light. This is Wisconsin Av. The 101 Cafe is on the corner. Turn right east and park in the school parking lot on the corner of Ditmar and Wisconsin. April Meeting Report: We had a great April meeting with 11 attendees 8 were first timers. There was also some interest at the SLR Mission environmental fair. The meeting opened with a recap of the club purpose and organization. Cuttings were brought in and identified. After a discussion of the article 'The 12 Most Wanted Shrubs', the group went outside for a tour of the Nature Center garden. We found most of the 12 plants listed. Cuttings were taken and ~8 pots of rootings made. Some folks took these home to care for, we look forward to their reports alive/dead/dry/wet/forgot. This mailing list has over 30 names. Tell your friends about our meetings. June Meeting: The Blooms the Blooms! The Buena Vista Native Plant Club will meet at 2pm Sunday June 15 at the Audubon Nature Center, 2202 South Coast Highway, on the Oceanside/Carlsbad border. We will take a peek at the wonderful slide collection donated to the center by a photography professor. Share your photos of favorite plants! The Center phone is 760-439-2473. Free </p>
