Default grass between pavers

In California we had a small, low, dichondra-like grass between pavers in our patio.I now live in Alabama and would love to have the same type of patio here. I don't know the name of the grass, but it grows very close to the ground, doesn't run over the pavers, and doesn't need to be mowed. We have very little freezing here, into the twenties for 2-3 weeks, high humidity, in the 90's in the summer.I'm wondering where to get this 'grass', if it would survive in this area, and how to plant it. Thanks. M. Rue </p>
