Coastal dunes - seeking Camissonia cheiranthifolia and ...

Date: 12/18/01 Time: 09:30 AM Can anyone tell me when Camissonia cheiranthifolia and/or Abronia umbellata flower and fruit along the CA and OR coasts? I am a Queen's University PhD candidate, Kingston, Ontario, Canada, and will be starting field work next spring/summer on each of these species, and need to know when will be the best time to catch them in fruit and flower?

Camassia cheiranthifolia etc.
Camassia cheiranthifolia and Abronia latifolia are abundant on the coastal dunes of Pt. Reyes National Seashore. The Abbotts Lagoon trail is an easy (1.5 mile hike) access to these species.

Camissonia or Camassia
The genus of the dune evening-primrose is Camissonia, not Camassia [Liliaceae].

Both taxa can be found in coastal dune and beach ares on Humboldt and Del Norte Counties. If you are still planning to visit in 2007(?) please contact me to facilitate access to areas for sampling.
