Acacia greggii germination

I am germinating acacia greggii seeds. The seeds are sending roots both below and above the soil. The seeds were sown on their sides and they remain in that position although they appear to be opening. Can anyone tell me what is going on with these seeds? Will these germinating seeds ever develop into viable plants? Thank you, Mark Rhoades</p>
