Up to four temporary positions available: Biological Sciences Technician (Plants)
Duty Station: South Lake Tahoe, CA

Conduct Botanical Surveys, Ecological Monitoring, and Invasive Plant Control

GS-4: (May fill up to one position) Duties will primarily include inventory, mapping, and treatment of invasive plant populations and associated data entry. Treatment will include both manual and chemical control methods. Additional field or office duties in support of the botanical and invasive species programs may be assigned. Position will run from approximately June through August. This position will be filled through the Pathways Program, which requires the applicant to be a full time student seeking a degree.

GS-5: (May fill up to one position) Duties will include inventory, mapping, and treatment of invasive plant species and associated data entry; inspecting completed projects for new invasive plant populations; monitoring rare plant populations; and meadow and restoration project monitoring. Additional field or office duties in support of the botanical and invasive species programs may be assigned. Position will run from approximately June through September. This position will be filled through either the Pathways Program, which requires the applicant to be a full time student seeking a degree, or through the competitive process.

GS-7: (May fill up to two positions) Duties will include conducting botanical surveys for rare plants & invasive plant species in project areas; monitoring rare plant populations; meadow and restoration project monitoring; and associated data entry. Additional field or office duties in support of the botanical and invasive species programs may be assigned. Positions will run from approximately June through October.

General Information:
All positions require a valid state drivers license prior to employment and a US government motor vehicle operators license once employed. Work will include extensive hiking, four-wheel driving, bending, and lifting. Positions will be filled based on experience, training, and knowledge. Botanical knowledge and experience with GPS and GIS desired. Qualified applicants from this announcement will be reviewed and considered until all positions are filled. Housing may be available.
