Default Southern California Black Walnut Seeds

I am looking for a place to harvest a few walnuts from California Black Walnut trees for the purpose of growing them. I live in San Diego and I do not know of a native stand of these trees in San Diego County. I expect that the closest stands are probably in Orange or Riverside County. Does anyone know of a good place to obtain a few of these walnuts?

Hi Walt: You might want to check in Mitch Beauchamp`s book for location. I thought they grew or grow in Vista. Obviously, you don`t want to collect off public land and need to check with private property owners first. I know Las Pilitas Nursery in Escondido has some in stock if you want to try to grow your own tree or two. Good luck.

I meant that Las Pilitas has live plants, not seed. Sorry. Greg
