Default Environmental Scientist (Vegetation Ecologist)

The Department of Fish and Wildlife is recruiting an Environmental Scientist in the Vegetation Classification and Mapping Program (VegCAMP) of the Biogeographic Data Branch. The successful candidate will be part of a team of vegetation ecologists and GIS technicians responsible for furthering the Departmentís statewide vegetation mapping goals, and will be responsible for vegetation data analysis, classification, mapping, training, outreach, and field data collection.

The candidate should have strong technical skills and experience in vegetation data analysis and mapping; excellent knowledge of the California flora; and GIS and database skills. Ideal candidates for this position have the ability to work independently and in teams on multiple projects at a time, and have strong writing and verbal skills. Candidate should have in-depth knowledge of relevant California and federal environmental laws, rules, regulations and requirements.

$3,493.00 - $6,679.00
