Default Telegraph Fire Area Field Trip - March 21, 2009

The Sierra Foothills Chapter invites you to join us on our Telegraph Fire Area Field Trip.

Leader: Al Franklin, BLM Botanist.
Hiking level: easy

Where wildfires can be terribly destructive, they are also a critical part of the renewal of chaparral and oak/grassland habitats. The nutrient flush and removal of old, dense, overgrown brush can give rise to a show of wildflowers which only appear after fire. Join us for an exploration of the burn area to find the spring flowering fire followers.

Meet at 9:00 a.m., at the corner of Highway 49 and Whitlock Road, north of the town of Mariposa. Contact Ann Mendershausen for more information at ralphr@sierratel.com
