We want to beautify our school with plants and flowers. We would like to know if there is a list of approved (child safe) plants and flowers. Thank you for any help you can give us. Jose

Hi Jose, I created a native plant garden at St. Mary School in Oceanside CA. We used the following because they were safe for kids. Of course, anyone could have allergies. I'm allergic to dogs but I see that they bring the canine companions into class rooms now. So, the main thing to worry about is poisonous leaves and berries. I don't know where you are but here are some winners from So Cal. There are many plants to use but here are some that are easy to grow: Sage (Salvia Clevelandi), Toyon/Hollywood Berry (Heteromeles Arbutifolia), Matilija Poppy (Romneya Coulteri), SageBush (Artemisia "Canyon Grey" or "Montara"), Blue Eyed Grass (Sisyrinchum Bellum), Saltbush (Lentiformus Breweri). Have fun! Regards, Joan
