Default Livermore Tri-Valley wild flowers and native plants

I am trying to assemble seed packets to hand out at a conference in October. My idea was to create a packet of seeds from wild flowers or native plants that had a special meaning to our Tri-Valley area. As a child I remember hearing stories about a man (Fremont) who came across the Livermore Valley when the mustard plants were in bloom and wrote how beautiful the valley was. I was hoping to compile stories like that and use them to help me determine what to put in the seed packets. Unfortunately, it is harder than I thought to get this information. Can anyone help me?
