eastern sierra manzanitas

I live in the foothills of the eastern Sierras near Reno. Question #1-What type of manzanita is that I see here native #2- I have some on my acre of land, how do I germinate the seeds? I believe I read somewhere to use fire. Any suggestions are appreciated.</p>
