Default nurse grasses for blue grama lawn?

I`m concerned that if I`m seeding blue grama, while this grass is growing slowly, I`ll have a lot of weeds and a chance for bermuda to re-invade. Some places doing major restoration I`m doing a 20`x20` lawn mention nurse grasses like native meadow barley, Hordeum brachyantherum, work well because they are short lived. Is this true? Would it be a good idea to use some other fast growing native grasses are others better than the barley? since I`m ok with the lawn having a prairie look -- my husband will want it mowed occasionally though!
