Default Unknown Plant

Hi,

I am from Pennsylvania and was visiting southern California in September. The plant in the attached file was widespread in the Ventura area but I can't find it in any references. Can someone tell me what it is?

I have several other unknowns I would like help with so I'll be posting those in the future.

Default Unknown Plant Identified

Hi,

The plant that I requested help with identification has been identified as Castor Bean, Ricinus communis.

The December meeting of the Botanical Society of Western Pennsylvania features members showing botanical photos from the year (up to 12 photos). I showed some of my California photos and asked if anyone knew what this plant was and two people had the answer.

At least that mystery is solved. You realize how much you don't know when you visit another part of the country.
