best year for wildflowers in California?

Hi folks,

I've been going through all my old photos (binders and binders full), scanning them (eventually posting them), and I'm realizing that 2003 was a great year for wildflowers in Southern Cal. It may be the best year I've ever had since I began chasing wildflowers in Ohio back in the '90s, and I've been chasing them all over the country (all over Cal., Ohio and Indiana woodlands and prairie remnants, the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, Gulf Coast of Miss. and LA., northern New Mexico, southern Colorado, coast of Washington and the Cascades, Montana, Texas...).

Anybody have any thoughts on that? What was the best year for wildflowers in Cal., statewide or locally (every year I get to be here for wildflowers seems to be pretty amazing) in your opinion?

My life list of North American wildflowers is approaching 1,800 (and yeah, I do include some nasty and not so nasty non-natives), and since my wife and I will be in Alaska this summer, I expect to add to the list...

Look forward to some replies,
Gregg
