I'm a novice native gardener but am experimenting with doing the the front yard in 100% natives and am looking for an evergreen climber with a showy bloom that would look good on either side of the garage. I live in the Sunset - 2miles from the Ocean- East facing. Ideas and where to procure??thanks

Try this native morning glory (Calystegia purpurata): beautiful cream flowers, tinged with pink/purple on the outside.

Other native vines are also nice, but not as floriferous. Aristolochia californica may do well in your location: it is deciduous, and has pipe-like flowers in early spring. Lush green leaves.

The native grape (Vitis californica) is a vigorous grower, also deciduous. The cultivar Roger's Red turns a flaming red-brown in fall.
