View Full Version : Powdery mildew on an Oak

I have a valley oak which appears to have powdery mildew on most of the newer growth. Its a few years old and about 10ft tall now and I give it a deep watering a few times a year, but nothing regular.

What should I do about the mildew, if anything?

I have a spray which contains neem oil as its active ingredient, which I've sprayed on a few of the worst areas, but it doesn't seem that effective.

I can remove most of the leaves with the mildew, but some are on the upper part of the tree and I'm hesitant to remove any of the tallest branches or leaves.

I haven't hosed it down at all recently, because I was concerned that would make the problem worse, but maybe it would wash off the mildew?

Thanks, Ian

To update my own thread, I'm going to try diluted milk(10%). It is supposed to be as effective as most sythetics for powdery mildew and I can't imagine it causing leaf burn or any other problems.
