Landscaping With Native Flora

We have a new home in the foothills in Carlsbad, @ about 400 ft. asl. We would like some advice about trees and native shrubs that would be appropriate for our landscaping. Flowers are also important. Is there a list, or a guide?</p>

laspilitas.com has a lot of info on their website about individual plants. Their nursery in Escondido is a good source. Tree of Life nursery treeoflifenursery.com, I think in San Juan Cap. is also a good source. They are usually only open for retail on Fridays Saturdays also in fall and winter. Contact them for a free catalog; it too has good concise info about a lot of plants. And, in my experience, both places were good ones for verbal advice and too see specimens.
