Announcement ? Workshop and Comments Sought: BIOTECHNOLOGY DERIVED PERENNIAL TURF AND FORAGE GRASSES: CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION Baltimore, Maryland ? January 9 & 10, 2003 (open to public, but must register before 12 noon on January 8, 2003) The goals of the workshop are to provide a forum for discussion on the state of the science on biotechnology derived perennial turf and forage grasses, and to begin a dialogue on the possible criteria used to determine environmental safety, and potential benefits and risks of the release of these grasses relative to traditional varieties. Opportunities for Input: In addition to providing input at the workshop, members of the public may submit data, background information, and other comments for consideration by the writing team. Input is encouraged through February 15, 2003. Send input using the e-mail comments facility at CAST?s website (see URL below), or to: crichard@cast-science.org or C. Richard, CAST, 505 Capitol Court, N.E., Suite 200, Washington, DC 20002. (After the workshop, CAST will develop a publication addressing the issues discussed.
