Hello, I am trying to locate the laurel plant. I would like to make a laurel crown like the greeks did for their athletic champions for my friend, who's name means 'laurel crowned.' I know that there are many different types California Laurel tree, Bay Laurel, ground Laurel, Alexandrian Laurel tree, and any of several evergreen shrubs and small trees of the genus Laurus within the family Lauraceae; the name is chiefly applied to L. nobilis [also called bay, sweet bay, bay laurel, and bay tree], but I am looking for the tree form. Can you help? I cannot seem to locate any place that sells this plant or could get it for me. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You should be able to gather branches of Umbellaria californica just about any where there is some sort of riparian habitat. I have a lot near me here in Yosemite national Park and have seen it elswhere in California. I could send you some but have no idea of the condition it would arrive in. Let me know what you think.</p>

Hi--I have been on a waiting list for umbellularia californica for almost 9 months now at the Theodore Payne foundation in Sunland, CA. They just called & said they have some in. I know they already have a 30 ft. tree there as well for you to see. Anyways--hope this helps your search. Just leave one tree there for me! It will be a couple weeks before I can pick it up. Thanks.
