California redbud

We have had a California redbud in the backyard of our house in Berkeley for about a year. It was doing fine until about two weeks ago when the upper leaves started getting brown and dry. By now almost all the leaves are looking that way. The plants around it are doing fine. Does anyone know what ails our dear redbud? </p>

There are several scenarios that could be affecting your plant. Too much water, not enough water, delayed transplant shock, some kind of bug. When you dug the hole to put you plant in was it larger than required, did it have straight smooth sides, is the soil the plant is actually in looser than the soil into which to remainder of the bed is comprised of? A little more background on the bedding condition of your plant would be helpful. Thanks, Ben</p>
