redwood tree problem

at the risk of great criticism from you purists I will confess that we planted redwood in our backyard,our yard is wide not deep and our house backs onto a very difficult view, the rear neighbors are almost living in our house!,so we planted redwoods as a visual and sound barrior,one of them was not being watered, because of a problem with its drippers, since repaired,we have lost the top 18 inches of the tree, brown and dried,

should I prune?, should I let it recover itself?

Hi again -Let one of the next branches down become a new leader before you cut off the top. The tree will be stronger with a new top to help it heal. Good Luck. Ben</p>
