View Full Version : Deer resistant flowering shrubs in SC Mtn climate

Hi all- I was hoping someone could recommend shrubs native to the Santa Cruz Mountain environment that flower and or seed but are relatively deer resistant in regards to the foliage. I was looking at the native azaleas and rhododendrons, which are spectacular, but I fear those are not resistant. Is that true? Any input would be appreciated

You might want to check out the Las Pilitas website (www.laspilitas.com) for specific info on plants native to your area. You can email Bert Wilson as to the deer hardiness of the plants. He also has a section where he rate various plants on susceptability to deer. Paul at Edgehill might also have some good information as well. Good luck.
