I have a three year old ribes sanguineum which was well-established and very robust. About a month ago early June its leaves began to turn yellow one by one and wither. It is now half brown with dried leaves. It seems early for it to go dormant, and another ribes in my garden about 21/2 feet away is still green and growing. I wonder if I have given it too much water or not enough. I have put some new plants fairly close to it and perhaps overwatered the ribes while establishing the new plants. Any thoughts or experience? Do ribes tolerate water or are they very sensitive to too much? Help! It was the best-growing plant in my native garden!

It helps to know where in Calif. you live?Is this a store bought plant or did you get it seed or starts from a native site? I have a dozen or so scattered around my garden in the Eureka area and they are still green.

I am located in Palo Alto, and I bought the plant from Yerba Buena Nursery, about 3 years ago. The yellowing and withering of leaves seemed to stop when half the plant was affected. The other half of the plant seems fine.
