I recently drafted a proposal to the City of Albany near Berkeley CA for a community native plant garden. The City approved the proposal and we the community are in the process of clearing and preparing the sites for planting in late Fall. There are two sites, each about 200 sq. feet, that runs along the old Santa Fe right-of-way that is owned by the City and leased by BART the public transportation rail system in the Bay Area. This property is adjacent to a heavily used bike path where bikers, joggers, etc. engage in outdoor activities. The site offers us an opportunity to educate the general public about CA native plants and, at the same time, provides us with an opportunity to establish a stronger sense of community in our efforts towards a common goal. We are attempting to complete this project strictly on volunteers and donations. We are looking for suggestions on where we may be able to obtain CA native plants through donations. Anyone with suggestions, please respond. Thanks.</p>
