Yes the Blue Palo Verde does attract bees but only when in bloom, which in Santa Monica should be about one month in spring and maybe again for one month in the fall. This is a very beautiful tree. I have a large one at the side of my nursery, and all last month people were stopping to take pictures of it.Though not native to your area it would grow very fast with very little maint. or water. go for it.</p>

Blue Palo Verde is a native here. It does attract bees, mostly bumblebees. Two problems with the tree though it is very shortlived about 20-30 years and is also very brittle much like pepper tree. I have also found that it is quite an allergin for many people who have hay fever.
