Hi all. I would like to plant some native food and cover plants in some marshland/wet land a medium sized pond in the San Joaquin central valley area. Is there a resource or book about how and what to plant and when? Does anyone sell these plants or seeds locally or on teh internet? Thank tou.</p>

Hi -

Since wetland plants will differ based on location, and since your climate is an extreme one where the local natives are most likely to succeed, you should contact the Sacramento Valley chapter of CNPS for help.

Assuming there are wetlands of the type you are aiming for in your area, you could visit them and take photos of the plants. Then someone could ID the plants, at least to genus. It may take some searching for this info - agencies like Calif. Dept. of Fish and Game which has a lot of info on its websites, may be of help.

There may not be any easy answers, but don't give up - keep trying!
