There is an oak tree brought to America from Sherwood Forest on a local campus. I am interested in growing seedlings/trees from its acorns. I picked some up from it yesterday that had fallen prematurely?. How would one go about planting/germinating/raising a plant in this way? I have experience with Bonsai and many other plants, but have never tried such a thing and would appreciate any information you might have. Thanks in advance!

Mark,You might look under the posts made July 7th of this year to find some good information regarding germanating acorns. Of course our discussion was concerning native Oaks but can't see why it would not extend to this English specie.I imagine that this is Quercus robur? If so the Huntington Gardens has a large and lovely one not far in from its entrance. Good luck,Dan</p>
