I have a ~100 year old black walnut tree on the topof my property. The local cattle have prettymuch stomped the ground down so far that I haveroots about a foot above the soil, but they dohelp fertilize this guy ;-
I would like to give this 'old guy' a fresh startfor the next 100 years.
Any help or suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.
Currently I have been pruning off the dead wood, covering the holes with tar, pruning off thelarge clumps of 'missle toe' and cabling the 3 large trunks together for added support.
Anyone know if I should.
- bring in some top soil & cover the roots ?- watering tips ?- fertilizer suggestions ?- vitamins, B-1 ??
Thanks
