Does anyone have a list of publicly accessible native gardens or parks in the San Jose/South Bay area? I am just getting started with native gardening in my yard, and would love to see existing native gardens in this area.
I am aware of the following:
1. Native Hill in Foothill College, Los Altos Hills2. Environmental Study Area in DeAnza College, Cupertino3. Yerba Buena Nursery Demonstration Garden, Woodside
I've heard that Overfelt Gardens in San Jose has an area dedicated to natives.

At the risk of appearing to be talking to myself, I found some more that others may find useful:
5. Ulistac Natural Area, Santa Clarahttp://www.scu.edu/envs/Ulistac/index.htm
6. Woodside Library, Woodsidehttp://www.pls.lib.ca.us/pls/ccd/wds/wds.html
7. Peterson Nature Area, Peterson Middle School, Sunnyvale
8. Hacienda Science Magnet, Hacienda-Valley View School, San Jose Unified School District
9. Larner Seeds Demonstration Garden, Bolinas -- I know, it is a bit far from the South Bay, but it is worth a mention. I visited this one in early April. The wildflowers were enchanting. www.larnerseeds.com</p>

This from the Woodside Library:
-------------------------
Hi Arvind,
The Woodside Library garden in the back of the library is composedentirely of California native plants. It's open to the public wheneverthe library is open Mon-Thurs 11-7; Fri-Sat 11-5, so please come and seeit. It's maintained by the Woodside-Atherton Garden Club, and they'veproduced a brochure with a map of the different plants.
I like the idea of promoting the garden on our website. I'll talk to ourwebmaster about putting up some pictures.
Thanks!
