Forestry Program
Public Lands
Forests
on federal land are primarily national forests, administered
by the United States Forest Service (USFS). However,
there are other forests on federal land that are administered
by the United States Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
Sensitive Plant Management on National Forests
The management
of sensitive plants on national forests by USFS is described
in the 6th
edition of the Inventory.
The Forest Service is in the process of preparing an
Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) in conjunction
with the revision of the Land and Resources Management
Plans for the Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres, and San Bernardino
National Forests. CNPS members living in
southern California are encouraged to participate in this process.
The Bureau
of Land Management (BLM)
has initiated an environmental impact statement (EIS) for the
conservation and restoration of vegetation, watershed and
wildlife habitat treatments on public lands administered by its
staff in the western United States, including California. CNPS
members are encouraged to participate in this process.
