CNPS 2009 Conservation Conference: Strategies and SolutionsHome | Important Dates | Registration | Lodging & Directions
Legislative OpportunitiesA new State Legislative Session will just be getting underway, following the November 2008 elections, when native plant supporters from around the state and nation gather in Sacramento. New and re-elected Senators and Assembly members will be developing legislative priorities for the year. There is no better time to get in on the "ground floor" to introduce yourself to your local representatives as a constituent and share plant conservation issues critical in your community. There is no better way to get favorable action from a legislator than to let he or she know people back home are watching. Most legislators will be in Sacramento Monday - Wednesday during the Conference schedule offering an opportunity to meet with your local legislator individually or as part of a local delegation. When the Conference dates get closer, information regarding how to set up a meeting and some tips for the meeting will be available to all conference participants. In addition, we hope to hear from several key legislators and other State officials throughout the Conference sharing their views on native plant and natural resource conservation issues.
