Name Tag Orders Due February 15
We are getting ready to place the next order of CNPS name tags in time to be picked up at the March chapter council meeting. Name tags are usually about $8 each depending on the size of our order; we will invoice your chapter treasurer for the total. If you would like to order name tags for your chapter, please send your list of names as they should be printed, with chapter affiliations, to Becky Reilly, , by February 15.

Coming Soon: Call for Abstracts for the 2018 Conservation Conference

We are planning to open up the Call for Abstracts for the 2018 Conservation Conference (http://conference.cnps.org) as soon as next week, and will need your help spreading the word – the more people we reach, the more abstracts we receive, and the better our conference will be! Stay tuned for details.

Insurance and Seller's Permits for Spring Events
Don't forget to request any insurance and seller's permits you will be needing in advance of your upcoming spring events! Seller's permits have a quick turnaround (though it is best to submit your request a couple weeks in advance), but insurance requests can take up to 6 weeks for processing, so please be sure to get those in early to ensure we get you the paperwork you need in time. Refer to the Event Insurance Information PDF and the Seller’s Permit Information PDF on the admin page of CNPS.org for details. Contact Becky Reilly, , with any questions or to submit a request.

Bookmarks Back in Stock
We have newly redesigned CNPS bookmarks back in stock! The front side features a beautiful photo of a snowy Jeffrey pine (special thanks to Steve Ingram from the Bristlecone Chapter!), and the back side contains information about CNPS books and the online store. Contact if you’d like us to send you a stack.

Coming Soon: CNPS Directory Updates
It's that time of year again! We are going to start working on updating the CNPS Directory for 2017 soon, so newly printed directories can be picked up at the March chapter council meeting. Start thinking about what changes will need to be made to your chapter's listing now, and we will be in touch soon to ask you for your updates.

This month's FAQ!
Q: How are lapsing members contacted and reminded to renew?
A: Batch renewal reminder mailings are sent out every other month from the state office. The first notice a member receives will be 1-2 months before their membership is scheduled to lapse, provided they have not opted out of receiving mailed reminders. If there is no response, they will receive a letter in each of the next two renewal mailing cycles, for a total of three mailed renewal reminders. Members with current e-mail addresses on file are also sent up to three e-mail reminders, and every 2-3 years, CNPS additionally sends a “lapsed member appeal” to all dropped members from the previous 10-15 years. Chapters are welcome to contact lapsed members as well to encourage them to renew their memberships. Membership resources and references for chapter volunteers are available under the “Chapter Membership Support” heading on the admin page of CNPS.org.

SAVE THE DATE!
Next CNPS Quarterly Meeting

March 10-12, 2017
Carpinteria, CA (plus an all-day field trip to Santa Cruz Island!)

Hosted by the Channel Islands Chapter

Why should I attend the Quarterly Meeting?
1. You will connect with, and learn from, other CNPS members and staff from around the state
2. You get to contribute to important decisions that impact our organization during the chapter council session, and learn about the projects that CNPS staff are working on
3. Through social events and field trips, you will meet like-minded people and get to know a new area of the state - it's fun!

Hope to see you there!
