Announcing Ditch your Lawn! Workshops
CNPS is partnering with organizations around California on a new statewide "Ditch your Lawn!" workshops program, designed to teach homeowners how to kill their thirsty lawns and replace them with beautiful native plants. Workshops are currently scheduled in Sacramento, Redding, Chico, Modesto, and Encino, and will be expanding even more in the future. Visit www.cnps.org/workshops (click the "Ditch your Lawn!" button) for details. We would love your help spreading the word, especially if you are in a chapter near these workshop locations! Please contact Becky Reilly at for a stack of printed flyers (NorCal flyer / Encino flyer) or content to use in your chapter newsletters.

CNPS Plant Science Workshops

Coming up soon: CEQA Impact Assessment (Ventura area), and Vegetation Mapping (Berkeley). The 2016 schedule will also be available soon. For more information, visit www.cnps.org/workshops or contact Becky Reilly at .

New Paperless Insurance Request Form
We have created a new Additional Insured/Certificate of Insurance Request Form for your chapter events, which can now be filled in electronically to save time and paper. You can access this from the admin page of cnps.org, or click here. For details on chapter event insurance procedures, refer to the Event Insurance Information PDF.

Garden Tour Insurance Information
Is your chapter planning to hold a garden tour? Procedures for insuring these unique events have changed in recent years, so we have created a separate insurance information document for garden tours. Be sure to check it out before you start planning for your next tour. The PDF is available on the admin page of cnps.org, or click here. If you have any insurance-related questions, contact Becky Reilly, .

Name Tag Orders
We will be placing another order of CNPS name tags before the September Chapter Council Meeting, so your chapter delegate can pick them up in Fort Bragg. The cost will be around $8 each, depending on how many we order. If your chapter would like more name tags, please send the names and chapter affiliations that need to be printed to Becky Reilly, . We will invoice your chapter treasurer once we place the order.

Plant Presses Available for Rare Plant Treasure Hunts
Plant voucher collecting is an integral part of the Rare Plant Treasure Hunt, and plant presses are now available for chapters who lead their own trips. Please contact the Rare Plant Program at if your chapter is interested in obtaining a free plant press.

Reminder: Seller's Permits
If your chapter is going to be selling anything at an event (plants, posters, books, t-shirts, etc.), a seller's permit must be issued ahead of time, specific to the event location - whether it is a chapter event, or your chapter has a table at another organization's event. It's fast and easy to request a seller's permit from the state office. E-mail Becky Reilly () or click here for more information.
