Policy for the CNPS Web Page

Adopted September 1996

  1. All material on the California Native Plant Society Web page must conform to the Policies of the Society.
  2. It shall be the duty of the Vice Presidents or their designees to review material in their areas of responsibility before it is posted. In view of users' need for timely information, especially in the areas of legislation and conservation, review of submitted information should take place, if possible, within a week of submission.
  3. The appearance and operation of the Web page shall be the responsibility of the Web Committee, whose chair and members are appointed by the President.
  4. The Vice Presidents are encouraged to submit material on a regular basis explaining and promoting the activities of their committees.
  5. The Web page may contain links to other Web sites of interest to botanists and conservationists. Although policy will not allow inclusion of links to any page devoted principally to the promotion of a political candidate or party, the Web page may include links to position papers on items of concern to the Society, for example Administration White Papers on timber policy. If the Web Committee is not unanimous on the appropriateness of a link, the question will be referred to the Vice President in charge of the area of concern.
  6. Chapter Web pages should be operated in a manner consistent with State Policy.
  7. Chapters should consult with the State Web Committee before advertising their presence on the Web.
